Introduced in Fall 2016 in the BBA EDHEC Entrepreneurship Horizon Programme, the course is a new initiative in France intended to offer Bachelor’s students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the organization of a family business.

According to Professor Rania Labaki, “Most students are likely to pursue their career in or with family businesses or already come from a family business. Increasingly today the employment market offers jobs with a specific focus on family business, such as investment banking, wealth management, and family business consulting”.

Professor Fabian Bernhard reflects on these developments by stressing the importance for the students to learn about the problems and advantages of family businesses in a way that enriches their knowledge to better deal with these organizations”.

The course includes key topics as they relate to family businesses, such as succession, strategic management, finance, human resource management, governance, family dynamics and internationalization.
